Reaching for the Stars

"The best way to predict your future is to create it."  Unknown

I've been thinking about the role that goals play in all of our lives.  There is perhaps a lot of truth in the sentiment that you don't get anywhere unless and until you head somewhere.  It is useful, perhaps vital, to check-in with ourselves, and take stock - where are we going, and is it where we want to be headed?  I believe there is a correlation between life direction and life satisfaction.

The people that have most inspired me at different times have all, I now see, had clarity and vision:  they have had goals, visions, hopes, dreams and ambitions.  The domain is perhaps less important than direction, and momentum.  I thrive when I am around individuals and groups with ideas that excite them, and find often this energy infectious and inspiring.  Potential is unbounded and limitless and when channeled, the possibilities are endless.

One of the most gratifying elements of my work is helping people define and then refine their goals, exploring the direction they want to take their lives in.  It doesn't get any better than witnessing people bringing their vision to life, and then living their dreams.

"Don't ask yourself what the world needs - ask yourself what makes you come alive, and then go do it.  Because what the world needs is people who have come alive."
Harold Thurman Whitman (1899-1981)
